Editorship

Editorship

By now many of you may have noticed a pattern regarding my interests and pursuits, and my position as an Associate Editor with Glass Mountain, UH’s literary magazine,is a testament to my commitment to the literary sphere. Having worked for the organization for two years, I have worked for both the “Prose” section and “Reviews & Editorials” section, having published three articles during my tenure with them. Although I am now getting ready to graduate, and begin the application process for graduate programs statewide, I am interested in continuing my work with them at the graduate level. My favorite part of working for the organization is that I have become accustomed to reading pieces from authors all across the country, and I firmly believe that being entrusted to read and assess someone’s work is a daunting albeit honorable task, just as it is intimate. Everytime I vote on a particular piece, I make sure to give it my full, undivided attention, and have devised my own personal rubric to make sure I don’t overlook anything from grammatical typos to character development. I would love to know what you all think of the editing process, as I would love to share some of my experience and knowledge with you, and am open and amenable to working with you to help you achieve the same.
